Web parent guidance

Use the sheets together

Choose one row or one page, read its instruction aloud and let your child point first. Drawing, tracing and saying the word aloud are optional ways to continue, not requirements to get started. Stop whenever your child needs a break.

The original Chinese parent notes on page 10 remain unchanged. This English web guide supplements them; it is not an English edition of the PDF. Follow the current A4-only availability above, even where the original notes mention other formats.

Pages 1-2

Match and find four colors

  • Page 1: read a color word on the left, then invite your child to point to the same-color shape on the right. Draw a connecting line together if they want to.
  • Page 2: choose one target row: red, blue, yellow or green. Read its target, then find and optionally circle the matching item. Other colors appear as distractors.
  • These pages cover red, yellow, blue and green, not just the red/yellow choices in the Beginner color game. Start with one red or yellow row; you do not need to name every distractor. For the simplest activity, find a safe red or yellow object at home.
  • The monochrome color pages use written clues: page 1 prints color words inside the shapes, and page 2 marks the correct object with 目标 (mù biāo, target). An adult reads these clues and guides the activity. They are not independent color-recognition exercises for a child who cannot read. Use colored objects for a listening-and-color activity instead of asking your child to identify colors from shades of gray.

Pages 3-4

Trace and find shapes

  • Page 3: explore a circle, square, triangle and rectangle. Follow the outline with a finger before offering a pencil; naming the shape aloud is optional.
  • Page 4: find all circles in the first row, all triangles in the second and all squares in the third. Your child can point before circling. There may be more than one answer in a row.

Pages 5-8

Trace numerals, count and connect

  • Pages 5 and 7: trace the Arabic numerals 1-5 and 6-10, then touch and count the dots beside each numeral. These are numerals such as 1, 2 and 3, not Chinese-character handwriting practice.
  • Pages 6 and 8: count each group of stars and connect it to the matching numeral, for 1-5 and 6-10 respectively. Let your child point to a group and its numeral before drawing a line.
  • These are paper counting activities. The default Number Star Hunt game asks a child to hear a number and choose its numeral; it is not this dot-counting or quantity-matching task, and its Beginner range is 1-3.

Page 9

Compare sizes

  • In the first row find the largest circle, in the second the smallest square, and in the third the medium-sized triangle. Compare within each row; the medium-sized answer is not necessarily the middle position.
  • Pointing is enough. Offer a pencil to circle the answer only if your child wants to.

Keep the original Chinese parent notes

  • This page is the existing Chinese guide, not a new English page. Read the web guidance here alongside it. You may choose just one small activity and accept pointing, even when the original notes suggest saying the answer aloud.

One short request

找一找红色。 Zhǎo yi zhǎo hóng sè.

Find red. Point to a red object first if the word is unfamiliar, then let your child try. For yellow, replace 红色 with 黄色 (huáng sè). This is an adult prompt, not new audio in the PDF.
